Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015

Stow Municipal Clerk of Court Kevin Coughlin has announced that he will forgo a scheduled increase in his salary and instead donate the money to local charities.

The recently passed budget for the State of Ohio provides for a 5% pay raise for all municipal clerks of court effective September 29. This is the first pay raise for municipal clerks since 2008.

“For my colleagues around the state that have served as clerks for a while this pay raise is much deserved,” Coughlin said. “But I’ve been in this office a relatively short time and I own a business. While I would certainly use the money there are others in need who could benefit more.”

Elected municipal clerks in Ohio are paid 85% of the salaries of municipal judges. On September 29, clerk salaries will increase from $96,985 to $101,872.50, an increase of $4,887.50.

The Stow Municipal Court serves the communities of Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Tallmadge, Twinsburg, Macedonia, Munroe Falls, Silver Lake, Sagamore Hills, Northfield Village, Northfield Center Township, Twinsburg Township, Reminderville, Peninsula, Boston Heights & Boston Township.
